![]() As many of my old friends know, in the late '80s and early '90s I wrote a newsletter which I called "Don's Thoughts on Wine at 3:00 AM". I'm blessed (or as women have told me through the years, cursed) with a body clock that causes me to awaken very early in the morning. During those years I would often use the early morning hours to read and write about wine. Living in the Napa Valley I've been thrilled to discover wines and wineries, restaurants and recipes, and accommodations and activities that have been unknown to me in the past. Looking for a truly wonderful and inexpensive pinot grigio or a fabulous zinfandel at a fair price? How about peaceful vineyard accommodations at competitive rate, or a challenging hike with spectacular valley views? Who makes the Haut Brion of the Napa Valley. The Mouton of the valley? Where and when can I go to see salmon and steelhead climbing a fish ladder on the Napa River? Looking for a source in the valley hills for chanterelles in the winter? These are many of the things I'd like to share over the coming newsletters. We hope you enjoy our first newsletter, which you can download below:
